What a successful training photo leaves out

I shared a photo of Inertia paying attention to me in a crazy distracting puppy class environment. That photo captured a moment of success! 🙌

Throughout this class, Inertia had some amazing training moments, but she also had lots of times where she was way too distracted and overstimulated to pay attention to me at all.

We went to the class every week, and USUALLY each week we had a little more success than the week before, but not every time!

This is a reminder to celebrate ANY bits of progress when you’re working on something new with your dog, especially something challenging like listening to you around distractions. If it feels like you’re taking one step forward and two steps back, pay attention to how you managed that single step forward and work on improving over time, but be understanding of your dog’s perspective too, and remind them how much you appreciate it when they’re on the right track 🤗❤️
