Reality Dog Training

Chop

Chop grew up in a remote Alaskan village and had never lived inside a house before he moved into our living room. Over four weeks, we worked on everything from settling indoors and not destroying our house, to not having huge reactions when he sees other dogs in public, resource guarding, basic manners and sharing space with our two dogs.

A whole new way of living

For Chop, even though he was already a giant grown-up dog when he moved in with us, the house itself was something totally new to him. So were many of the routines people expect an adult dog to understand. Before any of that could work, I needed to build a relationship with him.

The series follows how we address his pulling, barking at dogs, settling and resource guarding alongside the practical work of living together.

There are serious setbacks, including a dangerous escape, and difficult interactions with Inertia. Those moments are part of the story, along with his progress.

Near the end, there’s an episode where we look at what four weeks of positive reinforcement have meant for Chop without trying to become his “alpha.” I really think you’ll like that one. Watch through the final episode for what happens next.
