Do you see what the sheriff sees?

On October 19 in Thomasville, Georgia, off-duty Thomas County deputy and school resource officer Zachary Daniel shot Bear, a one-year-old German Shepherd who had wandered into his yard.

Daniel says Bear approached aggressively. Bear’s family disputes that he posed a threat.

I see a dog who appears uncertain and alarmed. In this excerpt, I don’t see any signs of an imminent attack.

Yes, Bear’s guardians were responsible for keeping him safely contained. That does not answer whether shooting him was ok.

A sheriff calling his own deputy’s actions “justified” should invite scrutiny.

Bear survived. His family is asking for accountability.

Share Bear’s story and call for an independent review of this case. His family deserves answers.
