Joseph Bratcher was stopped in Jacksonville. Police said he had driven dangerously and “was slow to follow commands.” He told officers he was scared and that he had PTSD.
When he got out with his hands up, police still sent their dog Ghost to bite him.
And then, while he was being attacked, police commanded him to crawl to them, and “bring the dog” to them ☠️
This is what happens when we train dogs to become weapons, and give a carceral police force the power to use them to force compliance.
And of course, these officers denied using excessive force.
Police power has been used to oppress our communities since its inception. We have got to start challenging it because there ARE alternatives that focus on building safety in our communities instead.
